Truly a "Happy" Meal

I got to go out with some girlfriends on Saturday night, which meant Lawson got to play with Grandma and Grandpa. They played so hard and even went to McDonald's for dinner. Lawson liked his Happy Meal, but he really enjoyed his toy surprise....an American Idol figurine that plays rock music. The dancer is back, ladies and gentlemen...

Rockin' Lawson

I just love the hands in the air and the triumphant "yay" at the end!

Parsley, Sage, Rosemary and Thyme...

On Sunday, Lawson and I joined my friend, Jennie, on an excursion to the Scarborough Renaissance Festival and had a blast! Of course, Jennie and I loved all the sights and sounds, but Lawson really drunk them in.

Despite all the wondrous costumes and shops, Lawson's favorite thing was the abundance of rocks on the ground. He would have been fine if I'd let him play with those all day. His second favorite part was all the gardens. He does seem to have an affinity towards them after all the time spent in Grandma's backyard.

He was a little too busy to bother stopping to eat lunch, but he definitely sat down for a taste of fried ice cream. Yummy!

Lucky Layla Farms

Today Lawson and I tagged along with a playgroup my friend, Jill, belongs to and we went to a dairy farm nestled right in the middle of the suburban sprawl of this area. It was a great little place! Lucky Layla Farms

It was strange to take a left past the strip mall and grocery store and arrive at the farm, but it was so nice. The kids got to see mommy cows and baby calves, and although they couldn't touch, they sure enjoyed looking!

After everyone was tired of cows, Lawson and Jill's daughter, Claire, entertained themselves with several rounds of "Ring Around the Rosie". Lawson and Claire just adore each other! They get to play together every Friday when I go to work.

And here's a cute picture of Lawson just being Lawson... Oh, and Lawson also got a haircut today - he was getting awfully shaggy.

Happy Easter!

Lawson definitely approved of the Easter Bunny's efforts. He actually got to eat some of his treats this year (it's sure nice having teeth!). He really liked the m&ms, but he absolutely went nuts for the jelly beans! It was so cute to watch him eat them...

He continued the good times at Grandma and Grandpa's house where he got to play in his indoor tent and eat even more candy. If you look closely (click on the pic and it will enlarge), you can see the little black eye he gave himself on Friday, after running into the kitchen table. *sigh*

It was a cool, rainy Easter morning, and while the skies cleared by the afternoon, it was still terribly muddy outside. It was a perfect chance to try out his new "wellies" (or golashes if you're not a wannabe Brit like me).

Bluebonnets

An obligatory part of a Texas childhood these days involves a trip out to the fields and meadows to take pictures in the glorious blankets of bluebonnet wildflowers that appear each spring.

I decided anything worth doing is worth doing right and so I dressed Lawson to the nines. My parents picked up the jeans and shirt at the Texas State Fair about 2 weeks after Lawson was born and I've been waiting until just the right moment to put them on him. After months of searching for cowboy boots that didn't cost a fortune, I stumbled upon these this week and viola! You'd think the kid was born on a ranch!

Even my fancy camera couldn't catch Lawson often - he was far more interested in running through the flowers than actually sitting still for a picture. *sigh* It's frustrating now, but when he's older it'll be a good reminder of the little boy he really was.

The Circus!

Oh, we had such fun at the circus on Saturday! Lawson hung in there for the whole thing. He got a little squirmy but he never fussed and I was so glad we didn't have to leave halfway through like I was expecting. Yep, my boy LOVES the circus!

His favorite part was when the trapeeze artists came out. He thought it was so cool that these people were swinging around way up in the air! It got rather hot there in the tent and I had to strip the poor little guy down and he was still all sweaty.

During intermission and then after the show, we got a chance to ride some of the animals. Lawson thought it was great fun! The elephant was his favorite and we rode it twice.

The camel was pretty awesome, too. He also got to go twice - once with Mommy and once with Grandma.

He also tried a pony-ride, but he didn't care for it at all. Not sure why the elephant and camel rides were awesome, but the pony was so scary... I had to take him off the pony about a minute into the ride because he was nearly hysterical. Poor kid...

All in all, it was a great day! Thanks to Grandpa for taking the pictures.

Getting Ready for the Circus!

The circus is in town this weekend and we're going this afternoon! Our local Kiwanis Club sponsors the event and since my mom is a member, she knew we could go out to watch the set up process. There were a handful of other kids around and everyone had a great time seeing the animals up close and personal. A circus hand was available and was teaching us all about the different animals they had - it was so cool! They have a fairly modern tent, but they still put it up the old-fashioned way...with elephants!

We had so much fun seeing the various animals and we even got to pet some of them!

We're so excited for the real show in just a few hours!
